Following on from Elliot Awin’s fantastic Riesling masterclass, we are celebrating International Pinot Noir Day exploring this exceptionally delicate and thin-skinned variety, described by Jancis Robinson as “the most capricious of grapes.” Whilst Pinot Noir is most familiar as one of Burgundy’s core grape varieties, this masterclass looks beyond Burgundy to other cool climate countries and regions where this tricky variety also thrives.
Elliot Awin, third generation wine importer, together with his father runs Awin Barratt Siegel Wine Agencies (ABS), will taste us through a few of his favourite examples from the ABS portfolio including Germany, Tasmania, and America.
The wines we will be tasting:
2020 Devil’s Corner Pinot Noir
2020 Payten & Jones Valley Vignerons Pinot Noir
2020 Division Winemaking Company Méthode Carbonique Pinot Noir
2020 Puy de Dôme Pinot Noir, Auvergne
