Matthew Jukes and Tyson Stelzer invite you to join them to taste every entry in their wine competition, The Great Australian Red, at 67 Pall Mall at 6.30pm on Wednesday 31st August.
Celebrating cabernet sauvignon and shiraz, the blend that defines Australia, this competition has been regarded as one of Australia’s key specialist wine shows since its inauguration in 2006.
Judged in the UK for the first time this year, Members can enjoy a unique opportunity to taste every entry and to be among the first to discover the winners.
A list of wines will be available on the night, however The Great Australian Red is judged in a uniquely rigorous manner.
Two panels of six judges each assess the same wines simultaneously, before the two panel chairs then compare notes with the chairman (who also tastes every wine) and comes to a consensus on medals.
Each year, the twelve judges and chairman are selected from Australia’s most influential and important winemakers, wine writers, wine retailers, sommeliers and agents, alongside international judges from the UK.
Wines are judged in classes according to price, Under $25, $25-$60 and Over $60.
