Grand Cru and Premier Cru Burgundy with Bouchard Père & Fils – Tuesday 5th December

Founded in 1731 in Beaune, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest houses in Burgundy. And while Bouchard became known as a leading negociant, making wines from purchased fruit, the expansion of the estate’s holdings has remained a priority for successive generations.

In recent years, Bouchard has moved away from its negociant wines to focus purely on domaine wines, made from sites that it owns outright. Today the house owns 130 hectares of vines, 12ha of which are grand cru, with 74ha classified premier cru, making it the largest owner of classified vineyards in the Côte d’Or.

Among the estate’s holdings are four monopoles, along with an unparalleled selection of unique sites within such vaunted appellations as Corton-Charlemagne, Clos de Béze and Beaune Grèves Vignes de l’Enfant Jésus. Bouchard is also the largest vineyard owner in Meursault and is the only house to own land on all four terraces of Chevalier-Montrachet.

We are delighted to welcome cellar master Frédéric Weber to the Club to showcase wines from all these sites and more, including four grand cru wines, and to detail his quest for terroir expression and what the house calls ‘approachable elegance’.
