Champagne Paul Déthune Masterclass with Sophie Déthune – Tuesday 28th March
We are thrilled to welcome to the Club one of the most dynamic and polished independent Champagne houses, Paul Déthune, whose wines represent glorious iterations of contemporary Champagne.
The Déthunes (whose vineyards are 100% grand cru) first made their mark as growers towards the beginning of the 19th century before graduating to become a house in its own right in the 1930s.
Today, this beautiful 7ha estate is steered by Pierre and Sophie Déthune who place biodiversity and sustainable viticulture at its heart: not only is Champagne Paul Déthune under organic conversion, since 2020 all of its energy has been supplied by an army of photovoltaic panels.
Another of Déthune’s calling cards is that its wines are vinified and aged in oak which has been impeccably sourced from Champagne forests. These barrels and ‘tuns’ are aged before use by Pierre himself, leading to a complex and truly unique Champagne Paul Déthune signature.
We look forward to welcoming Members on Tuesday 28th March for an evening of impeccably crafted grower Champagnes led by Sophie Déthune herself.
The evening will conclude in suitably indulgent fashion via Champagne Paul Déthune’s very own Ratafia liqueur which is fashioned from Pinot Noir and a healthy dose of spirit; it’s guaranteed to send you into the night with an inner glow…
